Tar River Chess Club

Tar River Community Development Corporation started the community chess club in order to provide our residents of all ages with an opportunity to learn and to engage with each other. Chess is a game of mastering the mind and it enhances important skills such as; problem solving, critical thinking, patience, and most importantly - calmness under pressure.

 We will meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month and we will have Quarterly Tournaments in order to crown a local Champion! We wil provide chess games and timer, but if you want to bring your game that is welcome as well!
